Day 16: Supernatural
When I was in high school and college, I loved playing sports. I had the opportunity to play volleyball, basketball, and softball and it was one of the reasons I decided to go to college. I didn't have to worry about how to stay active because playing sports was part of my daily routine. Later in life, I found it difficult to exercise with the demands of being a mother, especially after I started teaching. There are seasons that I am more active than others, but there is no question that COVID brought an additional strain during a time that I was already struggling to stay active.
At the beginning of the pandemic, many people were challenged to stay active. It was difficult to find ways to exercise while attempting to stay safe. One of the ways that I found enjoyment in the exercise was through my VR headset. There are a few games that are physically challenging, but one that I especially love is an app called Supernatural. Using my Oculus Quest, I have enjoyed participating in fitness sessions with a trainer while challenging my mind and body. In addition, the Apple Watch connection allows a more precise tracking while I'm exercising in the VR app.
"Another immersive technology Apple Watch integration is found in VR using the Oculus Quest. The Supernatural app is a new way to experience exercise and fitness. The app brings popular music, exercise, and a virtual fitness instructor into your home to support your exercise experience." page 75 of The Immersive Classroom
