I’m thrilled to provide the #31DaysofARVRinEDU event! Each day in March will include an augmented (AR) or virtual reality (VR) resource to bring into the classroom.
About a year ago, I decided to spend a little money on a virtual reality device. As you’ll find in many of my resources, my focus is always on the practical use of immersive technology for the classroom. There are unbelievable experiences on high end augmented and virtual reality devices, but it’s not always realistic to bring into a school. After evaluating the benefits and possibilities of the Oculus Go, I decided that it was worth checking out.
While searching for an Oculus Go app for the classroom, I was approached by a company that is making incredible VR experiences. After a few interactions, I began exploring the Classimmerse app in my Go.
My first module was on heart disease. The experience brings you through videos, text and 3D objects to engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate your understanding of the topic. As you can see in my short video below, the experience is interactive, exploratory and fun! I think the company has managed to engage our students to learn in a way that retains knowledge and in a format they prefer.
