Day 20 - Reality Construction Kit

Reality Construction Kit is an augmented reality app created by Apple that brings virtual objects into your real world. Using the LiDAR sensor on an iPhone or iPad (Pro devices only), the 3D objects interact in your environment and behave as if they're really there.

You can toss balls, boxes, and bubbles, stack boxes and crates, play darts and basketball and even create a wild contraption of all the objects together. Including collisions, reflections, shadows, and directional 3D sounds makes it an incredibly realistic AR experience.

While the app offers some great capabilities, it can be a bit challenging to use at first. Using the AR maker resource, students will love creating a virtual apparatus or creative project without purchasing physical items. With unlimited access to virtual 3D objects, students can create unlimited projects.

Steps to get started

  1. Download the Reality Construction Kit app. (iOS only)

  2. Select a 3D object from the list in the top right corner.

  3. I recommend reading the full instructions when selecting the “?” button at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Make!
