CoasterMania is a roller coaster simulation game available on the App Lab for the Oculus Quest. With realistic physics and graphics, you can experience the adrenaline rush of riding a roller coaster from the comfort of your classroom. The game features prebuilt tracks, each with its own twists, turns, and drops.
The Sandbox mode was my favorite part of the app because students could design and create their own roller coasters. This mode gives students access to the same tools and features as the main game to build whatever they can imagine. The Sandbox mode is a great way to experiment with different coaster designs and explore the physics behind a good or a bad rollercoaster. Test your design by becoming the rider on your own rollercoaster!
The passthrough mode in CoasterMania allows users to see their physical environment while being immersed in the virtual reality experience. It adds to the overall experience by creating a more realistic experience by viewing your physical space.
Steps to get started
Download the CoasterMania app in the App Lab. ($9.99)
Use the two remotes to build the track for your coaster.
Adjust the speeds and heights of the coster to make the ride function.
