Did you know the human kidney plays an important role in regulating the body's fluid balance, removing waste products, and maintaining overall health? Some people suffer from kidney-related diseases, impacting their quality of life.
Understanding these diseases and their impact on the body, such as chronic kidney disease (CKD), atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), IgA nephropathy (IgAN), and C3 glomerulopathy (C3G), can be challenging, especially for students with little medical knowledge. The innovative Insight Kidney app uses augmented reality technology to explore the kidney in detail to understand its structures and functions better.
Using ARKit, Insight Kidney allows students to scan their classroom and place a 3D model of the kidney in front of them. The virtual assistant, ANI, guides students through the different states of the kidney, from macroscopic to microscopic anatomy. Students can see how the kidney looks and functions in healthy and unhealthy states, giving them a better understanding of these diseases' impact on the body.
